Lawyer Adriana Georgescu, currently suspended from PNL Sector 1, and her accomplice, Gheorghe Iscru, who claimed to be a SIE general, were arrested on Thursday for 30 days after being caught in the act taking a bribe of 60,000 euros.
DNA prosecutors claim that the two demanded a bribe of up to one million euros from a businessman and promised in return that they would intervene with magistrates for the favorable resolution of two criminal cases in which he was a defendant.
What are the prosecutors' accusations
According to DNA, between October and December 2025, at different times, the lawyer demanded various sums of money from a businessman (witness in the case), either directly or through another person, and in December received amounts of 4,000 euros and 5,000 lei.
"In this context, the defendant would have led the businessman to believe that, through political figures, she would have influence over some magistrates, promising that she would ensure that they would perform acts contrary to their duties, namely the favorable resolution of two criminal cases, one of which was under investigation at D.N.A., and the other pending at the Bucharest Tribunal, cases in which the witness was a defendant," the DNA statement shows.
Also, in the same context, on November 21, 2025, the lawyer allegedly demanded from the witness in the case, through the other person, a sum of money ranging between 100,000 euros and 1,000,000 euros, intended for the electoral campaign of one of the candidates for the Capital City Hall, leading him to believe that, through this, she would have influence over some magistrates and promising the favorable resolution of the two criminal cases in which the witness was a defendant.
According to prosecutors, on November 5, 2025, Georgescu allegedly demanded from the witness in the case, through another person (undercover investigator), an undetermined sum of money, from which she received, on November 6, 2025, the amount of 5,000 lei, delivered through the same intermediary.
Prosecutors also state that in January 2026, Gheorghe Iscru, supported by the lawyer, allegedly asked the businessman, through another person (undercover investigator), for the sum of 120,000 euros, in three installments, from a total amount of 500,000 euros.
Adriana Georgescu and Gheorghe Iscru caught in the act
On January 28, the lawyer and Gheorghe Iscru received from the undercover investigator the sum of 60,000 euros, representing the first two installments of the requested benefit, a circumstance in which anti-corruption prosecutors proceeded to establish the flagrant offense, concluded DNA.
In this case, an appeal has been filed and the case is to be forwarded to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
