The President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, announced the approval of a law that will allow for rapid and controlled interventions in forests, in the context of thousands of hectares drying out in Romania, increasing the risk of fires. The law was necessary because forestry interventions required approvals from multiple entities, a process that could take months. Abrudean emphasized that commercial exploitation of forests will not be opened, but a definition of the phytosanitary emergency situation will be introduced, allowing for rapid interventions. Additionally, the law provides for penalties for delays in approvals and for exceeding the approved limits. The senator mentioned that the project was improved through amendments, ensuring a balance between environmental protection and responsible intervention in affected areas.
