The National Bank of Romania (BNR) recently published the list of salaries for the heads and members of the Board of Directors, highlighting significant increases compared to the previous year. Mugur Isărescu, the BNR governor since 1990, receives a net monthly salary of 88,648 lei, an increase of 3,410 lei compared to 2025.
This represents an income of approximately 17,400 euros, three times higher than that of the governor of the national bank of Poland. Vice President Leonardo Badea now receives 84,670 lei, while members Florin Georgescu and Cosmin-Ștefan Marinescu each receive 79,395 lei, both having increases of over 3,000 lei.
Other members of the Board have salaries of 26,370 lei, with an increase of 1,014 lei. They can also benefit from bonuses and additional allowances, depending on the performance of the BNR and other criteria.
