The Romanian government has approved the 'Minimis Aid Scheme for the Implementation of the Support Program for Consumption Potato Production' for the year 2026, at the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Consumption potato producers will benefit from aid of up to 300 euros/ha, with a total budget allocated of 26.625 million lei.
Tánczos Barna, the interim Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized the importance of this support, mentioning that the maximum amount has been obtained to ensure the continuity of support for farmers, in the context of rising production costs and challenges generated by imports.
The scheme is aimed at agricultural producers, both individuals and legal entities, who must cultivate a minimum of 0.3 hectares of consumption potatoes, achieving a production of at least 12 tons/ha. They must be registered in the Agricultural Register and provide proof of the valorization of the production through supporting documents provided by the regulatory act. Additionally, the aid cannot exceed 50,000 euros per enterprise in the last three years, and in case of exceeding the budget, the support per hectare will be reduced proportionally.
