The government approved, in the meeting on Friday, the allocation of over 244 million lei for the funding of 73 public performance institutions from 34 counties, at the proposal of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.

The funds will support theaters, operas, philharmonics, and a cultural center under the authority of local authorities. Minister Cseke Attila emphasized the importance of this measure for the development of cultural infrastructure in administrative-territorial units that do not have sufficient financial resources. The amounts come from 2% of the income tax collected until May 30, 2026, and are distributed based on the requests of local authorities.

Among the beneficiaries are the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre in Sibiu, which receives the largest amount, followed by the Brașov Opera and the "Transylvania" State Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca.
