The governing coalition will meet on Monday at the Victoria Palace to discuss measures aimed at mitigating the rise in fuel prices, after Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan coordinated a working meeting this morning during which scenarios were presented regarding the next steps following the adoption of the emergency ordinance concerning the crisis in the fuel market.

The meeting, scheduled for 1:00 PM, will take place at the level of deputy prime ministers and ministers, without the presence of the leaders of PSD, UDMR, and USR.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan coordinated a working meeting in which scenarios and figures regarding the measures that are to be implemented were presented.

The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, emphasized that a real decrease in pump prices could be achieved by reducing VAT or lowering the excise duty.

Ivan mentioned that the Romanian state benefits from additional revenues from the increase in prices and assured that these amounts will be redirected to citizens.

We remind you that last week the Government adopted an emergency ordinance regarding the declaration of a crisis situation in the fuel market for the period from April 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026, which caps the commercial markup on fuels.

The period of application of the measures can be extended successively for durations of up to 3 months each.
