The National Environmental Guard (GNM) conducted a thematic control action on the Romanian coastline to verify compliance with environmental legislation, mobilizing 12 teams of inspectors.

GNM carried out 58 inspections, imposing fines totaling 1.76 million lei and suspending 13 activities for operating without an environmental permit. Additionally, a criminal complaint was filed for the discharge of wastewater into surface waters.

Marius Niță, Deputy General Commissioner of GNM, emphasized the importance of complying with environmental legislation, especially in the context of public health. Control actions will continue until August 9.

Among the common issues identified are the uncontrolled disposal of waste and the lack of necessary documentation for their transport.
