The President of the Association of Energy Suppliers in Romania (AFEER), Laurențiu Urluescu, announced that the gas bill could increase by approximately 5% from April 1, 2026, once the capping-compensation scheme expires. The current purchase price for suppliers is 120 lei/MWh, but it is expected to reach the market price of 170 lei/MWh. In this context, AFEER suggests measures such as vouchers for vulnerable consumers and increasing liquidity in the wholesale natural gas market. Until March 31, 2026, the final price for residential customers is capped at 0.31 lei/kWh, and for non-residential customers at 0.37 lei/kWh, including VAT. These limits are set to protect consumers against price fluctuations.
