The Buzău Prefecture has transmitted the first images of the authorities' intervention at the site where the wreckage of the drone shot down by the F-16 fell in the Padina area.

Forces of the Ministry of National Defense and the Gendarmerie are investigating the Padina area in Buzău County, where a drone was shot down on Friday morning.

The announcement that a drone that entered Romanian airspace was shot down by a Romanian pilot over an uninhabited area in Buzău County was made by the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan.

We remind that the drone was initially detected at 09:39, at a distance of approximately 20 km East of Sulina, then it entered national airspace, on the route Sulina-Brăila-Fetești-Buzău. Combat aircraft took off at 09:48 and 10:56, and at 11:02 one of the two F-16 fighter jets of the Romanian Air Forces that took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetești shot it down.

The prefect of Buzău County, Leonard Dimian, stated for Cotidianul that the drone shot down by the Romanian pilot with the help of an F-16 is presumed to be Russian.
