RO AI Factory, the first artificial intelligence factory in Romania, will be hosted by the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) and could become operational in the first part of 2027, according to General Director Adrian-Victor Vevera.
The European project, which marks Romania's presence on the map of artificial intelligence development, will involve a consortium made up of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the National Council of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Artificial Intelligence Institute in Cluj, and the Institute of Bioresources.
Vevera emphasized that ICI is already involved in European projects on Hypercomputing and has begun building the RO AI Factory ecosystem, inviting the private, public, research, and academic sectors to join. The director mentioned that artificial intelligence represents a technological and social challenge, having implications in cybersecurity and data manipulation, highlighting the importance of datasets as a strategic resource in the future.
