Between July 31 and August 2, firefighters in Romania responded to over 500 fires nationwide, of which 373 were caused by uncontrolled burns, affecting an area of over 2,300 hectares.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations reported that, during this period, they managed over 5,400 emergency situations.
A significant fire occurred in Caraș-Severin County, where the intervention lasted three days. Aerial crews conducted 107 water drops, throwing over 260 tons of water on active hotspots.
IGSU reminds that burning dry vegetation is prohibited and is punishable by fines between 7,500 and 15,000 lei for individuals and between 50,000 and 100,000 lei for legal entities.
Firefighters conducted a national campaign to prevent fires, and over the weekend, they provided medical assistance to more than 4,200 people. Additionally, 41 messages were sent through the RO-ALERT system to inform the population about existing dangers.
