On Sunday, firefighters in Caraș-Severin County are involved in extinguishing two forest fires, one in the commune of Slatina-Timiș and another in the commune of Armeniș. The fire in Slatina-Timiș, reported on Friday, is occurring in an extremely hard-to-reach area and has affected approximately 70 hectares. Ground intervention is complicated due to the rugged terrain, so firefighters have been working for the third consecutive day, being assisted by a Black Hawk helicopter that is dropping water from the air. In Armeniș, another fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, spreading over an area of approximately 20 hectares. Here, a crew of four firefighters is collaborating with the Volunteer Emergency Situations Service and the Forestry Department, and in this case, intervention is also taking place from the air. So far, the helicopter has made 25 water drops in order to limit and extinguish the fires. ISU Caraș-Severin officials mention that the interventions are taking place under difficult conditions, but the forces involved are making sustained efforts.
