The case in which Călin Georgescu, former candidate for the presidential elections of 2024, is being tried for legionary propaganda was blocked on Friday at the Bucharest Tribunal, after the judges could not agree on a solution and noted "a divergence of opinion".
The case, currently in the preliminary chamber stage, will be resumed on February 9, in a panel of divergence. Georgescu is accused of repeatedly promoting fascist, legionary, and xenophobic ideas, concepts, and doctrines between June 16, 2020, and May 16, 2025, including glorifying the historical past and Marshal Ion Antonescu, mobilizing the nation for the "creation of the new man" and supporting an authoritarian leader, in public speeches and demonstrations.
