The Ministry of Culture announced the signing of the funding contract for the eMonumente project, aimed at transforming Romanian cultural heritage into accessible digital resources. With an eligible budget of over 17 million euros, the project will create a modern digital database that will include information about at least 20,000 historical monuments, as well as 3D digitization of 2,000 sites. eMonumente, implemented in partnership with the National Agency for Cadastre and the National Cartography Center, will provide interactive tourist maps and QR codes for quick access to information.
The project aims not only at preserving heritage but also at economic development and social inclusion, with a duration of 48 months. In the end, Romania will meet international standards in the digitization of cultural resources, facilitating access for citizens and specialists to cultural heritage. Additional information will be available on the websites of the Ministry of Culture and UMP.
