The mayor of Baia Mare, sent to trial for embezzlement in a continuous form. He would have traveled hundreds of kilometers with the institution's vehicles for personal interest.

The Prosecutor's Office next to the Maramureș Tribunal announced the referral to trial of Doru Ioan Dăncuș, deputy mayor of the municipality of Baia Mare, for committing the crime of embezzlement in a continuous form. He is accused of having used the service cars for personal interest during the period of April-May 2023, making repeated trips between Baia Mare and the localities of Ieud and Finteușu Mare, thus causing a loss to the municipality.

Alongside Dăncuș, his driver has also been referred to trial, accused of falsifying the travel sheets. Prosecutors believe that the described actions meet the constitutive elements of the crime of embezzlement in a continuous form.

The damages attributed by the prosecutors consist of "the natural wear of the cars used unjustly, the lack of use of the respective goods, and the equivalent value of the fuel/electricity consumed by the two cars (in the amount of approximately 241.55 lei)."
