Ion Drăgan, a well-known folk music soloist and member of the 'Doina Gorjului' Folkloric Ensemble, passed away on December 25, Christmas Day. The news was announced by the Gorj County Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture (CJCPCT), which highlighted his impact on Gorj folklore for 25 years. Drăgan was found lifeless in his father's bed after participating in caroling on Christmas Eve.
The artist was appreciated not for seeking glory, but for the love and respect he earned from the public. Throughout his career, he participated in folk festivals and promoted Gorj songs both in the country and abroad. Ion Drăgan grew up in the village of Frumușei, where he discovered his love for folk music, being supported by his grandparents. Even in his last days, he was active in the community, participating in winter traditions. CJCPCT Gorj expressed condolences to the family and highlighted his dedication to Romanian folk music.
