According to a statement from the Executive, the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova for coordinated control at the Galați (Romania) – Giurgiulești (Republic of Moldova) border crossing point will be extended for 12 months, from August 24, 2026, to August 24, 2027.
This decision was made following an evaluation of the results of the control system carried out by the border and customs authorities of both countries. Maintaining this coordinated control will facilitate the continuation of investments for infrastructure development with EU funds, considering the subsequent implementation of bidirectional control, in line with the vision of the European Commission.
Additionally, the Agreement is important for accelerating the process of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU, contributing to alignment with European standards in border management.
