Marcel Ciolacu, the president of CJ Buzău, and Ionel Arsene, former head of CJ Neamț, were photographed at Villa Cortine Palace, a luxury hotel on the shores of Lake Garda, in Italy, where Arsene is after being sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison for corruption. Arsene fled to Italy before the sentencing was pronounced, and Romania's extradition request was denied by the Italian courts, which cited his health condition.

Ciolacu avoided commenting on the meeting, stating that his personal life is not of public interest. This meeting raises questions about the relationships between politicians and individuals pursued by justice. While Ciolacu continues to be active in politics, Arsene remains on the list of international fugitives. This situation highlights the complexity of corruption cases and the challenges of extradition in an international context.
