The Constitutional Court of Romania admitted on Monday the referral submitted by the High Court of Cassation and Justice regarding the law on judges' pensions, for which the Government has assumed responsibility in Parliament. The CCR's decision established that this normative act is unconstitutional, according to some officials of the institution.

This ruling has significant implications for the pension system for judges, considering that the law was adopted through a contested legislative process.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated back in August that if the law falls at the CCR, "the Government no longer has legitimacy."
