Patriarch Daniel held a special service to celebrate the canonization of 16 Romanian women, acknowledging their 500-year history of suffering and dedication to family, the sick, and the poor. Among them are the wives of the voivodes Constantin Brâncoveanu and Neagoe Basarab, as well as simple women who supported the community, including a deported teacher in Siberia. Relatives and believers attended the service, and the new saints were represented in icons.
The spokesperson of the Patriarchate, Adrian Agachi, emphasized the importance of this canonization in the current context of domestic violence and femicide, highlighting that it is essential for society to fight against these issues. Believers are encouraged to take a stand against abuses, thus continuing the tradition of support and protection of women.
