Deputy Diana Buzoianu accuses the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) of failing to rule, for more than two years, on a complaint filed following Archbishop Teodosie's statements about women psychologically abused by their husbands. In a Facebook post, she states that institutions must not delay cases concerning fundamental rights and domestic violence.

The case dates back to 2024, when Archbishop Teodosie allegedly urged women in such situations not to divorce, but to “bear their cross.” Buzoianu says that she then filed a complaint with the CNCD, arguing that abuse must not be presented as suffering that women are obliged to accept.

The lawmaker says that she recently requested that the complaint be revisited and that the institution is obliged to provide an answer, regardless of its content. She maintains that the authorities’ delay sends a dangerous message to victims of domestic violence and creates the impression that institutions are siding with the abuser.

“Would it be better for me to file a criminal complaint for abuse of office because you have refused for 2 years to rule on a complaint that was filed?” Buzoianu asked, accusing the CNCD of refusing for two years to rule on this matter.
