The Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan train project, promised by Nicușor Dan during the 2020 electoral campaign, is now on track, according to the announcement from the Bucharest Municipality (PMB). The feasibility study for the route Gara de Nord Bucharest – Chitila – Crivina has been completed, obtaining the necessary approvals from CFR and the Ministry of Transport.

The project, estimated at 1.5 billion lei, will benefit from 85% European funds, and the completion of the works is expected by 2030.

The train will operate on a route with 13 stations, including two new ones, and will ensure the connection between the Capital and Ilfov, contributing to traffic decongestion.

PMB will build parking lots, overpasses, and will purchase non-polluting electric trains, estimating a number of 4 million passengers annually.

We remind that Nicușor Dan proposed this project during the 2020 electoral campaign to reduce travel times and pollution.
