Eight electric bicycles valued at 20,000 euros, discovered by border police in Borș

Border police from the Borș Border Police Sector stopped a van on the A3 highway, heading from Hungary to Romania, driven by a 37-year-old Romanian. Following checks, they discovered eight electric bicycles in the cargo compartment, valued at approximately 20,000 euros.

The driver could not present documents of origin for the goods, which led the police to conduct further checks. Consulting databases, they found that the bicycles were sought by Austrian authorities for confiscation. The goods were seized for further investigation, and the driver was taken to the institution's headquarters for additional checks. The Border Police has opened an investigation for retention, and legal measures will be taken upon completion of the investigations.
