Andreea Ciucă, the president of the Association of Magistrates in Romania, stated that the European Association of Judges has adopted a unanimous declaration calling on the Romanian authorities to stop the defamatory campaign against magistrates. She emphasized that, instead of cooperation between the branches of government, there has been an aggressive campaign in which magistrates are presented as the source of society's problems.

Andreea Ciucă highlighted that unfounded statements made at the governmental level have used justice as a scapegoat. She also pointed out that the elimination of magistrates' service pensions would affect the independence of justice and violate the European commitments undertaken by the state. According to her, this move would deny the special status of magistrates, which includes a strict regime of incompatibilities and prohibitions.
