The National Trade Union Confederation Cartel ALFA has requested the urgent intervention of Parliament and the Government in the context of problems in the energy system, highlighting the closure of over 3,500 MW of coal capacities without their replacement. Trade unionists warn about the major vulnerability of Romania's energy security, given that energy prices are among the highest in the European Union.
Cartel ALFA calls on the DNA and DIICOT to investigate the decisions to close energy capacities, without making concrete accusations, but emphasizing the importance of transparency in these decisions. Additionally, the confederation proposes amending legislation to condition the closure of coal-fired power plants on the commissioning of equivalent capacities using natural gas and renewable sources. Cartel ALFA emphasizes the need for a responsible energy transition, based on real investments, to ensure the continuity of energy production and protect jobs.
