In an interview granted to the SKAI television station, MP Sofia Voultepsi from the ruling New Democracy party in Greece launched a harsh attack on Laura Codruța Kovesi, the head of the European Public Prosecutor's Office. The statements were made on April 22, in the context of Kovesi's visit to the Ministry of Justice in Greece.

Voultepsi criticized Kovesi's origins, suggesting that Romania does not have a solid tradition of separation of powers, and invoked the communist regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu, stating that justice in Romania has problematic roots. She compared the situation in Greece to the abuses during the communist period, emphasizing that she does not want a justice system similar to that of Ceaușescu's time. The criticisms come against the backdrop of the OPEKEPE 2 scandal, while the Greek Minister of Justice stated that the government supports the activities of the European Public Prosecutor's Office led by Kovesi.
