On April 16, 2025, a 74-year-old man from Ipotești shot a stray dog, causing its death. The incident caused unrest in the community. Authorities searched his home and found 1,038 rounds of illegally-held ammunition and toxic substances. The man is charged with several offenses, including killing animals and weapons violations.
