Flame and smoke at the subway, at Universitate station / Metrorex: Technical malfunction due to humidity

A brief flame ignited on Wednesday at the subway station Universitate, on Line 2, due to humidity that caused a technical malfunction in an insulator on the track.

Passengers at the station self-evacuated, and specialized Metrorex teams intervened to remedy the situation.

The ventilation system in the station was activated to eliminate the smell of smoke.

Trains heading towards Universitate were redirected to Piața Romană, and the mechanics advised passengers to use surface public transport. Metrorex is monitoring the situation's evolution and will inform the public about any relevant updates.

We remind you that the Piața Victoriei 2 subway station was temporarily closed due to infiltrations caused by heavy rainfall.
