A possible suicide attempt took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at around 10:40 a.m., at Constantin Brâncoveanu metro station in Bucharest, on track 1. Metrorex requested the intervention of SMURD and the other authorized authorities.

Following the incident, metro train services were temporarily reorganized, in accordance with the procedures applied in such situations. Passengers were informed through the public-address systems in the stations and trains, while Metrorex stated that it would announce when services resume under normal conditions.

According to a source, the person involved may be a 16-year-old boy. The information had not been officially confirmed at that time. The authorities and Metrorex representatives are expected to launch an investigation to establish the circumstances in which the incident occurred.

The intervention of the emergency crews also affected road traffic in the area. According to information posted by the “Trafic Alert București LIVE 24/7” group, traffic on Calea Văcărești, near the metro station, was temporarily blocked. Metrorex is expected to provide further information after the intervention is completed.

Context: Metrorex has recently recorded further disruptions on the metro following incidents with a major impact on safety

Previously, metro traffic was affected on Thursday following a possible suicide attempt at Ștefan cel Mare station, when a woman was removed from beneath a train in an unconscious state. Emergency crews intervened at the station, and traffic was disrupted, with delays and changes in the area until the intervention was completed.

During the same period, Metrorex also announced that service intervals may increase during certain time periods compared with the approved schedules, due to overcrowding, breakdowns, and other unforeseen events, with the operator stating that it adjusts the trains and continuously monitors traffic to reduce waiting times.
