Students in Romania will return to classes on Thursday, January 8, 2026, after the winter vacation, according to the calendar of the Ministry of Education. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions, in-person classes will be suspended in six educational institutions in the counties of Hunedoara, Mehedinți, and Sălaj on January 8 and 9, 2026. The school year 2025-2026 is structured around course intervals and vacations, with various start and end dates. Additionally, school inspectorates may approve modifications to the structure of the school year depending on climatic conditions. Practical training activities will continue within the "School otherwise" and "Green Week" programs. The boards of administration of educational institutions will establish measures to recover the suspended class hours.
