Strada Sforii, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Brașov and the narrowest street in Eastern Europe, was closed on November 19 for safety reasons.

Mayor George Scripcaru has decided to close the street after specialists found that the plaster on the buildings on both sides of the street is peeling off, posing a danger to tourists and residents. There are eight properties with apartments on this street, and the homeowners' association had previously requested funds for repairs. Local authorities will assess the condition of the buildings and take reinforcement measures to reopen the street safely. The mayor emphasized that the degradation of the buildings is exacerbated by recent weather phenomena and announced plans for a technical project that will include restoration work, the installation of access gates, and video surveillance systems.
