The Bucharest Transport Company (STB SA) announced the purchase of 46 new trams and 100 articulated trolleybuses, aimed at transporting more passengers.

The General Director of STB, Andrei Dinculescu Bighea, stated that 170 million euros will be allocated for the rehabilitation of the tram infrastructure. Currently, STB has 1,700 vehicles, of which 1,276 are used daily, having almost a million validations per day.

Dinculescu emphasized the importance of modernizing the fleet, mentioning that 100 new trams and trolleybuses, as well as electric and hybrid buses, have already been introduced. He also proposed the development of an urban transport application for tourists, which would allow the purchase of tickets for museums and other cultural institutions. The announcement was made during the FOCUS Bucharest conference, dedicated to the development of the Capital, which brought together representatives from public administration and the business environment.
