The General Council of the Capital will discuss on Wednesday a draft resolution that anticipates the layoff of approximately 700-800 STB employees. The project includes the allocation of up to 12 severance salaries for those affected, with a total cap of 32.2 million lei.

The measures are part of an efficiency plan proposed by the general director of STB, aimed at strengthening financial discipline in the context of a difficult economic situation. It is estimated that the voluntary departure program and collective layoffs will generate savings of 7-8 million lei per month. Other measures include a 30% reduction in management positions and a 50% reduction in directors, as well as a temporary reduction of activity for 4,540 employees to 4 working days per week. STB will also seek to increase revenues through various pricing policies and measures to control passengers.
