Sorina Pintea, former Minister of Health, stated before the Cluj Tribunal that she is withdrawing her request to suspend the execution of her sentence of 3 years and 6 months, received for bribery. She intervened via video call from prison, mentioning that her health condition has improved and she no longer considers it necessary to interrupt the sentence. The initial request was made on medical grounds, following a surgical intervention.

The court postponed the case to allow the presence of her lawyer, but Sorina Pintea decided to withdraw her request, thus continuing the execution of her sentence in Gherla prison. The conviction was pronounced on June 6, 2025, and DNA prosecutors demonstrated that Sorina Pintea received bribes while she was the manager of the Baia Mare Emergency County Hospital, through businessman Mihai Coste. They had a close relationship, highlighted by a significant number of exchanged messages.
