At the PSD Congress, Sorin Grindeanu, the sole candidate for the party leadership, paid tribute to former social-democratic leaders such as Adrian Năstase, Mircea Geoană, Victor Ponta, and Marcel Ciolacu, acknowledging their contributions at key moments for Romania.

Grindeanu highlighted the historical achievements of the PSD, comparing them to the lack of achievements of other parties, which he accused of cutting salaries and mishandling the pandemic. He also called for a moment of silence in memory of former president Ion Iliescu, emphasizing his impact on democracy in Romania. Grindeanu concluded by stating that the PSD is once again "the home of all" social-democrats.
