Simona Halep, considered the most valuable player in the history of Romanian tennis, will be present throughout the entire Transylvania Open 2026 tournament. The organizers announced that Halep will participate in meetings with players, sessions for children and volunteers, as well as the awards ceremony. With 24 WTA titles to her name, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Halep was the first Romanian to be ranked number 1 in the WTA, spending 64 weeks at the top of the world rankings.

Her presence in Cluj is special, considering that she played the final of the first edition of the tournament in 2021 and announced her official retirement on the central court in Cluj-Napoca. Halep emphasized the importance of the tournament for her, mentioning the support of Romanian fans and her desire to support future generations. The tournament director, Patrick Ciorcilă, stated that Halep represents excellence in sport and that her return is an important gesture for the tournament community. The Transylvania Open WTA 250 is the most important women's tennis competition in Romania, recognized as the best WTA 250 tournament in the world in 2022 and 2023.
