Simina Tănăsescu, the president of the Constitutional Court of Romania, has been replaced from her role as the reporting judge for the Integrity Law, following criticisms from the CSM, the High Court and the courts of appeal regarding her meeting with interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The decision was influenced by the meeting that Tănăsescu had with the dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, a few days before the law debate.
The criticisms were generated by fears that the discussions could have affected the impartiality of the judicial process.
Although Tănăsescu confirmed the meeting, she rejected the accusations that she had discussed the Court's cases outside the legal framework.
The new reporting judge for the ANI Law is Csaba Asztalos, according to G4Media.
Presidents of the courts of appeal have requested clarifications regarding the nature of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of transparency in judicial activity.
