A1 Highway Sibiu – Pitești: The Robești Tunnel has been completely pierced

The works on the Robești tunnel, part of the Sibiu-Pitești Highway, have entered a new important phase, with the completion of the interior concrete lining and the installation of systems.

Recently, the first crossing with a vehicle through the second gallery, which is 900 meters long, took place. The two galleries have been named "Sorana" and "Ilinca", continuing the tradition of giving them female names. The Turkish constructors (Mapa-Cengiz) have managed to break through both galleries, and the works are progressing at approximately 32%.

On the route of section 2 (Boița-Cornetu), 7 road tunnels, 24 bridges, and 24 viaducts will be built. The mountainous section of the highway, with a length of 68.73 km, will ensure a fast road connection between the historical regions of Romania. The value of the contract for this section is 4.25 billion lei (excluding VAT), and the completion of the works is expected to finalize the Pan-European Corridor IV.
