In the middle of the night, border guards from Botoșani caught several men carrying large packets of unstamped cigarettes from the Prut. When legally summoned, the carriers abandoned the load and hid, causing the officers to fire seven shots vertically. Following the intervention, 10,000 packs of cigarettes were seized, with a total value estimated at 125,000 lei, and a criminal file for smuggling was opened. This is not the first such seizure in the area, highlighting illegal smuggling activities.
