Children from an educational center in Timiș were victims of abuse committed by employees, who allegedly forced them to maintain intimate relationships for favors.

A serious scandal has erupted at the Educational Center in Buziaș, Timiș County, where six minors are said to have been victims of abuse committed by two guards. The allegations suggest that the employees coerced the children into maintaining intimate relationships in exchange for cigarettes. Representatives of the union within the National Administration of Penitentiaries have reported that the incidents may have occurred as early as November 2022, and the management of the center allegedly reacted late to the existing suspicions.

Following the allegations, an administrative investigation has been opened at the center, and prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office next to the Lugoj Court have initiated a criminal investigation. The Educational Center in Buziaș has a history of scandals, having previously been involved in cases of physical abuse against beneficiaries. Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the actions and the responsibilities involved.
