Paul Ciprian Pintea, senator from Sălaj, was sentenced by the High Court of Cassation and Justice to one year and five months of suspended prison, after being caught driving with a suspended license. The decision confirmed a sentence from June 17, 2025, and the punishment was the result of the merging of several previous convictions for the same offense.
In addition to the suspension of the sentence, Pintea will have to participate in a social reintegration program and perform unpaid work for 60 days. He also has a new criminal case for driving without a license, having been caught in November 2025. Pintea became known for the errors in his CV, including mentioning courses from a dating site and incorrect information about his studies. He was elected senator in December 2024 on behalf of the Young People's Party, but became an unaffiliated parliamentarian after the dissolution of his group.
