The local administration of Sector 2 announced the establishment of the Local Food Bank, a project inspired by the successful model from Sector 6. This initiative, which will be submitted for a vote in the Local Council, aims to provide an organized and sustainable food support system for vulnerable individuals, including the elderly, single-parent families, and children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project will involve collecting food from producers and distributors, sorting and storing it under safe conditions, followed by distribution to those in need. Additionally, the City Hall will set up a social kitchen to provide hot meals through a dedicated canteen. Funding will come from the local budget and external sources, and the local administration aims to partner with the private sector and NGOs to maximize social impact and reduce food waste.
