Sebastian Ghiță stated in an audio recording that Călin Georgescu, a former candidate for the presidential elections, visited him in Belgrade in December 2021 to request help in the 2024 electoral campaign. Ghiță mentioned that Georgescu wanted to meet with "Russians and Serbs" and that he already considered himself the president of Romania. In response, Georgescu acknowledged the meeting but claimed that his purpose was not to receive Ghiță's support, stating that he wanted to ensure he would not be seen as a threat.

Sebastian Ghiță, the founder of RTV, fled to Serbia a day before being indicted in a DNA case. The judicial authorities in Serbia refused to extradite Ghiță to Romania.
