The principal of a middle school in Giurgiu County has been detained by prosecutors, being accused of embezzling approximately 100,000 lei from the funds of the institution she was leading. According to investigators, the woman allegedly used the money for personal expenses, including a vacation in Egypt and the purchase of several electronic devices and appliances.

The irregularities came to light after she posted photos from her vacation on social media during a period when she was supposed to be at school. Following an inspection and an audit, inspectors discovered the absence of goods purchased from the unit's budget, as well as the fact that the principal's university diploma was allegedly falsified. Prosecutors are now considering whether to request her preventive arrest.
