The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, explained that the referral to the European Prosecutor's Office regarding the electric school minibuses purchased at an inflated price was made only now because the verifications involved multiple checks and analyses conducted in parallel, and the initial report of the Control Body did not fully convince him.
He specified that additional clarifications were requested, including from the Ministry of Education, before sending the case to prosecutors, emphasizing that the main problem identified was the lack of any analysis regarding the reasonableness of the prices, given that the same type of minibus was purchased for amounts ranging between 99,000 and 263,000 euros, differences that raise serious suspicions regarding the spending of money from the PNRR.
