The National Salt Company (SALROM) announced that, between July 25-27, 2026, the Praid Salt Mine area recorded an episode of microseismic activity, coinciding with an increase in the salinity of the Corund River.
The phenomenon is constantly monitored by SALROM and other institutions, and preliminary assessments suggest that the microvibrations do not indicate the risk of a collapse. Specialists from the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development (INCDFP) have detected decreasing microvibrations, compatible with the redistribution of stresses in the salt massif. Surface checks, including drone observations, revealed no signs of instability.
SALROM has proposed the establishment of an orange alert code, which is preventive in nature and does not involve the evacuation of the population. The measure allows for intensified monitoring and the implementation of intervention plans. The company will continue to inform the public about relevant developments.
