A potential crisis situation was reported in Poiana Câmpina, Prahova County, after possible gas and hydrocarbon emissions were observed following the drilling of a water-supply well on private property. The Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations met on September 18, 2026, and established measures to prevent a fire, explosion and pollution.
Following checks carried out at the wellhead, representatives of the National Regulatory Authority for Mining, Oil and Geological Storage of Carbon Dioxide found that there was a potential risk of explosion.
The area was cordoned off, and access was restricted by Poiana Câmpina City Hall. Nearby residents were instructed not to use open flames or electrical or mechanical equipment that could produce sparks.
The landowner must urgently hire a specialized company to secure the site. The Local Police will patrol the area, while the Prahova Emergency Situations Inspectorate will monitor gas concentrations and the liquid level in the piping twice a day.
