Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance, emphasized the importance of Romania's accession to the OECD during the launch of the 2026 Economic Study. Accession will reduce the financing costs necessary for stabilizing public debt and will stimulate investments, as many investors condition their investments on OECD membership.
Nazare highlighted that the efforts for budget consolidation, initiated in June last year, have resulted in a deficit of 7.6%, which was appreciated by the OECD. Accession to the OECD will ensure a more efficient functioning of Romanian institutions, thus contributing to economic prosperity and growth. This is a strategic step for Romania, similar to joining the European Union and NATO, which will have immediate effects on financial stability and attractiveness for investors.
