The Craiova Force Protection Detachment has been deployed to Iraq for NATO missions, taking over responsibilities from French partners.

The 26th Infantry Battalion 'Neagoe Basarab' from Craiova was deployed to Iraq in July to take part in NATO's Mission Iraq, taking over previous responsibilities from French partners. The missions include complex training exercises testing rapid reaction and coordination between command structures.
