The second Romanian pilot who shot down a Ukrainian drone that entered Estonian airspace, Commander Captain Crețu Vlad Cristian, was decorated by the interim Minister of Defense with the distinction 'Emblem of Peace Envoy, Class I'. This distinction was also awarded to his colleague, Captain Commander Alexandru Costel Pavelescu, who achieved the same feat.
The Ministry of National Defense emphasized that success in air missions is the result of teamwork and preparation, highlighting the professionalism and determination of the two Romanian pilots. The action took place during the 'Carpathian Vipers' mission, and the drone was shot down during an Enhanced Air Policing mission in the Baltic airspace. This achievement confirms the high level of training of the Romanian Air Forces and Romania's contribution to the security of NATO's Eastern Flank.
